Continuing work on the animal theme. I'm hoping to explore the design and color elements in each animal I do. Not planning on going abstract, but I also don't want to limit myself if the abstract comes into play. Enjoying this process a whole bunch. This pastel is on textured board, "Untitled",13x21", $250.

I must be looking forward to something besides all the rain and cloudy skies we've been having. Nothing worse than a warm winter with no snow. But! How about a beach and some sunshine? This is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan, and my first painting in a series of Sleeping Bear Dunes. Voted as the most beautiful place in the US. Very lovely. My husband and I visited last summer and can't wait to go back! You can see Pyramid Point in the distance. This painting is 10 x 20" and sells for $200. Please click on it to get a better view. :)

This was a special portrait commissioned by an old friend of ours. This is his father-in-law who passed away recently. He had this portrait done for his wife for Christmas. Her dad raised her and he holds a very special place in her heart. I was so honored to be part of this wonderful Christmas surprise.

- I am a pastel painter, living in an historic small town in Ohio, interested in painting people's faces, animals, weathered barns, goodies from my garden, sweet newlyweds as they begin their life-journeys together. This blog is all about pastels and the rich, vibrant paintings they can create, and my journey creating them!
